Week 5: News Update


Hello hello fellow debaters, and welcome to week 5 !

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who participated, judged and helped out. We witnessed extremely engaging and lively debates, and we would like to extend our congratulations to our Novice Cup winners, Jieun Park and Lipei Tao. We hope everyone enjoyed it and learnt a lot from the experience. We look forward to seeing all of you at future tournaments!

The Tuesday training you have all been waiting for is taking place at 6.30pm in CLM 1.03 on Tuesday 6th November. Danny will be going through the role of an extension speaker. There will also be a practice debate after that. Bring a friend with you, the more the merrier!

Experienced training will be on Thursday 8th November at 6.30pm in CLM 1.02. Judith will be running a session on debate topics pertaining to intervention in the Middle East. There will be a practice debate after that. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The reknown Oxford IV will be happening this weekend, from Friday 9 Nov to Saturday 10 Nov. We need 2 judges and welcome all interested parties to drop us an email. Please note that transport costs will have to be covered by participants BUT the society will take care of accommodation as well as registration fees. Please sign up only if you can are available on Friday (from the afternoon on) and the whole of Saturday. The Oxford IV is a great opportunity for you to gain judging experience and learn from some of the best debaters in the circuit.

The Cambridge IV  will be happening next weekend, from Friday 16 Nov to Saturday 17 Nov. We need 1 judge. As for the Oxford IV, please note that accommodation and registration fees will be taken care of by the society, but not transport.
