Since the very beginning of this academic year, LSESU Debate Society has been consistently achieving success on not just the London debating scene, but also the wider UK and international circuits. Have a read below for an outline of some of the great things we have achieved this year. We are very proud of all of our members and would like the congratulate them all on their successes!

World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC)

The highlight of the debate season is WUDC,  which this year two teams from LSE attended. The year's WUDC happened in Mexico. LSE A was Miko and Razzaq, LSE B was Sarah and Ciara and our judge was Clara. Massive congratulations to Razzaq and Miko for breaking and reaching the Open Octo-finals! This was a fantastic result for LSE. Further congratulations to our alumni Sam Lin who reached the ESL finals.

UCL President's Cup

UCL President's Cup was an excellent start to the year as ever! Our teams did incredibly well, with Victoria, Adele, Diana and Sara all reaching the novice final, and Diana and Sara winning overall. Hamza and Josh reached the Open Semi-finals and Evan and Levin became Open finalists! Particularly shoutout to Miko who judged the Open final.

Imperial Novices

Imperial Novices this year was CA'ed by our alumni Daniel Bramble, and yet LSE managed to   leave even more of a mark on the competition when two of our teams made the novice finals, one of whom ended up winning the novice category, with a further one of our teams reaching the Open Semi-finals. Congratulations to Theresa, Niclas, Max, Aadil, Josh and Ruyi for their speaking achievements and to Keshav, Josh, Razzaq and Sarah who all broke as judges. It was particularly exciting to see Keshav, who was still a novice himself, selected to judge the Open Final!
