Lent Term : Week 10

The last week of Lent term has finally arrived. This means there will be no training sessions this week, however there are plenty of other exciting things to look forward to. We are notably proud to introduce our new Debate Society Committee! Scroll down to find out who they are, as well as get more info about our debating successes at the UCL IV and Royal Holloway Open. Last but not least, don't forget to attend our end of term social!

A big thank you goes out to everyone who showed up at last Thursday's elections. The results of the new committee are in!
  • President: Rachael Quah
  • Vice-President: Samantha Si
  • Secretary: Lipei Tao
  • Treasurer: Khawaja Akbar
  • Training Officers: Danny Keeley, Abel Lam
  • Publicity Officer: Jieun Park
  • Social Secretary: Benolas Tippet
  • Non-portfolio members: Kenan Ceylan, Amir Rozlan, Alfred Wong, Jamil Mustafa
Congratulations to you all! Also, we would like to thank the outgoing committee for all their hard work and effort these past two terms. Your contributions have been invaluable and we'll miss our Debate Elders those who are graduating this year (Louise Kang, Jonathan Kay, Judith Jacob, Samuel Joynson). The debate society certainly won't be the same without you!

And so, the legacy is passed on!

2. UCL IV
Well done to all the teams for surpassing expectations at the recently concluded UCL IV! Thank you to all the experienced debaters who volunteered to Pro-Am with our freshers. We hope that everyone had a good time!

3. Royal Holloway Open
Congratulations to Jonathan Kay, Ariela Silberstein and Carlo Cabrera for making it to the finals of the Royal Holloway Open!

4. End of term social!
The end of term social is taking place this Tuesday, 19 March. It's the perfect opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the past two terms and say goodbye to those who will be graduating this year. As per debate tradition, we will be doing karaoke! Please meet outside the Old Building at 7:15pm. We will be heading to the Bloomsbury Lanes Karaoke rooms. For more information on how to get there (especially if you're going to be late or meeting us there directly), please refer to: http://www.bloomsburybowling.com/index.php?id=3&sid=8

Here's wishing you a fun-filled, restful and productive Easter break ahead!
