News Update: Week 9

We are entering week 9... a time for festive and debate cheer!
We have several important updates for our followers this week.

First off, a big thank you to everyone who has signed up to judge at LSE Schools. The tournament is taking place this Saturday, 8 December. For anyone else who is interested to help out but has yet to sign up, it is not too late to do so (You can register your interest here: http://www.lsedebate.org/2012/11/lse-schools-judging-sign-up.html) No prior judging experience is required as you will be working with more experienced judges. Also, we need runners to help out on that day. Please indicate on the form if you would like to be a runner instead of a judge. There will be food and drinks provided. Come along and joing in the fun! Vanessa, our convenor, will be emailing everyone involved with more information soon. We look forward to seeing you there! Thanks again to our sponsors, the LSE Annual Fund, who have generously supported our flagships schools' tournament!

Debaters take note! We will be holding our end-of-term social next week on Tuesday 11 December from 6:30pm onwards, so mark your calendars! It will be a good chance to get to know more people in the society and do something entirely unrelated to debating, for a change. More details will be released soon - check your emails! #

Novice Training will be taking place on Tuesday 4 December in CLM 1.01 at 6:30pm. Danny the Debating God will be talking about how to do analysis in a debate speech. There will be a practice debate for all interested participants shortly after. As this is the last novice training session of the term, we strongly encourage everyone to attend!

Experienced training will be taking place on Thursday 6 December in CLM 3.06 at 6:30pm. Vinny will be discussing the issue of privatisation vs. nationalism, a recurring topic in debate competitions. There will be a practice debate after that. This will be the last training session of the term.

To nationalize or not to nationalize? Vinny promises to give
us an inspiring take on the question

Finally, and crucially, if you have been having trouble receiving emails please let us know! We would hate for any one of you to be tuned off the debate circuit! If you know of anyone who is unable to receive the weekly updates due to technical difficulties, please ask them to drop lsedebate@gmail.com an email, stating their full name, LSE ID number and official LSE email address.
