Week 0 of the Michealmas term has just come to a close for the LSE SU Debate Society, and the first week of term is underway... What has been happening and what is going on? Here is a quick log to keep all our members updated.

On the 01 and 02 October, the Debate Society was present at the Freshers Fair... where we met more than 350 new members!

Our First Show Debate of the year, the topic of which is : "This House would vote for Mitt Romney" has been organised and will take place on 09 October, CLM 5.02 at 6.30 pm.

Keep an eye out for our cheeky posters around campus!

The UCL President's Cup is happening on 13 October, this Saturday. This tournament is a novice tournament intended for people who have no debating experience whatsoever or who have had less than a year's worth of exposure to British Parliamentary debates. The trials will be taking place this Thursday evening, on 11 October. If you are interested in competing and are available the whole of saturday, please email lsedebate@gmail.com . It will be great if you could also state your preferred timeslot for the trials (either 6-7pm, 7-8pm or 8-9pm). We encourage everyone - especially those with no prior debating experience - to try out. Every year, the UCL President's Cup is a good opportunity for novices to try their hand at debating in a more laidback and fun environment.
